May 21, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Leslie Unger - (310) 247-3000 lunger@oscars.org Academy to Screen Oscar-Nominated and -Winning Short FilmsBeverly Hills, CA - All of the animated and live action short films nominated for Academy Awards in 2000 will be screened at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Friday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The program is presented as part of the "Academy Standards" series. Part one of the evening will feature the animated shorts, starting with the Oscar-winning "Father and Daughter" and continuing with "The Periwig-Maker" and "Rejected." After a brief intermission, the program will continue with the five live-action titles: "By Courier," "One Day Crossing," the Oscar-winning "Quiero Ser" ("I Want to Be..."), "Seraglio," and "A Soccer Story" ("Uma Historia de Futebol"). The Academy has presented each year's Academy Award-nominated and -winning animated and live-action short films in a public program like this one since 1996. Tickets for the screening at the Academy are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members. All seating is on a first-come, unreserved basis. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Academy during regular business hours beginning on June 1, by mail, or on the night of the screening, if still available, when the doors open at 7 p.m. The Academy is located at 8949 Wilshire boulevard in Beverly Hills.
