Inter-Con to Provide 73rd Oscar® Event Security

Beverly Hills, CA - Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc., the Pasadena-based worldwide security company, will provide security services for the 73rd Annual Academy Awards® telecast, it was announced today by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' executive director, Bruce Davis. It will be the firm's second year as security service provider.

Neil Martau, vice president, administration, and Jim Clark, general manager for Inter-Con, will work closely with Oscar Show Security Chief Kirk Smith and the executive staff of the Academy to make sure everything is in place when the telecast production crew begins work on site at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium in March.

"We are delighted to be back for a second year," said Martau. "Our first year was an amazing experience. This is a large, multi-faceted, complicated production with unique needs and one that, quite frankly, surprised us, despite how much we had learned about it in advance. That experience will be put to good use this year. The Academy team is a marvel to work with and we are thrilled that Kirk Smith is heading up security for the Academy this year. We are looking forward to a most successful event."

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2000 will be presented on March 25, 2001, at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. Sunday at the Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour arrivals segment preceding the presentation ceremony.
