Sid Ganis Re-Elected Academy Foundation President

Beverly Hills, CA - Academy public relations branch governor Sid Ganis has been re-elected president of the Academy Foundation, the educational and cultural arm of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Ganis served four terms as secretary of the Academy Foundation, and one term as vice president before being elected to his first term as president last year.

Public relations branch governor Marvin Levy and writers branch governor Fay Kanin were re-elected vice presidents, music branch governor Arthur Hamilton was re-elected treasurer and sound branch governor Don Hall was renamed secretary.

New Foundation trustees elected by the board of governors of the Academy are producers branch governors Samuel Goldwyn Jr. and Richard D. Zanuck.

Trustees of the Foundation re-elected by the Academy's governors are: Ganis, Hall, Kanin, Levy and Hamilton; Alan Bergman, music; John Frankenheimer and Robert Wise, directors; Conrad Hall, cinematographers; Roger L. Mayer, Robert Rehme and Lew R. Wasserman, executives; Frank R. Pierson, writers and Donald C. Rogers, sound.

Academy executive director Bruce Davis remains executive secretary of the Foundation.

The Academy Foundation was established in 1942 to oversee all educational, preservation and cultural activities of the Academy. Its governing body of 16 trustees is drawn from the Academy's 39-member board of governors. Trustees and officers of the Foundation serve one-year terms.
