Angel Harvest To Deliver Governors Ball Food to the Hungry

Beverly Hills, CA - On Sunday, March 26, at around midnight, as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Governors Ball is winding down, trucks from Angel Harvest, a non-profit agency that provides food for the homeless, will pull up to the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium's Exposition Hall and pick up food for the homeless

For the fifth consecutive year, Angel Harvest will deliver the Ball leftovers to a variety of social service agencies in Los Angeles.

The food will be the Wolfgang Puck cuisine enjoyed by Hollywood's stars just minutes earlier. It will be served for lunch and dinner the following day to the hungry in Los Angeles shelters.

It is certainly not typical "mission" fare. Instead, roasted chicken breast with wild mushroom risotto and black truffles, marinated lobster salad, tuna tataki with wasabi cream, and assorted Spago pizzas are among the selection of dishes to be served at the shelters.

The food is divided among local agencies, depending upon each organization's capability for handling the food. For example, salads and entrees may go to some shelters; desserts, entrees and appetizers to others.

Founded in 1995, Angel Harvest is one of the newest additions to a network established in 1982 of 120 sister programs in the Unites States and 80 internationally. On a normal day, these organizations provide 600,000 meals a day, seven days a week, worldwide. In the Los Angeles area alone, Angel Harvest provides 1,538 meals per day. Food is collected from film premieres, studios, hotels and private parties.

The Governors Ball will be held in the Shrine's Exposition Hall immediately following the 72nd Academy Awards Telecast next Sunday, March 26.. The gala is attended by Oscar winners, nominees, presenters and performers.

Sunday at the Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour red carpet arrivals segment preceding the presentation ceremony.
