Antonio Banderas to Present at 72nd Academy Awards®

Beverly Hills, CA - Antonio Banderas will make his third presenter appearance on this year's Oscar® telecast, producers Richard D. and Lili Fini Zanuck announced today.

The international success of the motion pictures "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown," and "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!" brought Banderas, who was born in Malaga, Spain, to the attention of global audiences. In 1992, he made his American film debut as a young Cuban musician in "The Mambo Kings." Since then he has appeared in numerous films, including "Evita," "The Mask of Zorro," "Interview with the Vampire," "Desperado," "Philadelphia" and "Play It to the Bone." Banderas recently made his directorial debut with "Crazy in Alabama" starring Melanie Griffith. Currently, he is filming "Dancing in the Dark," with Oscar nominee Angelina Jolie.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 1999 will be presented on March 26, 2000, at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. Sunday at the Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5:00 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour red carpet arrivals segment preceding the presentation ceremony.
