The fee-based National Film Information Service of the Margaret Herrick Library can answer queries from patrons outside of a 150-mile radius from the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study.

N.F.I.S. can accept inquiries via email, fax or letter but all work undertaken by N.F.I.S. requires payment in advance. Requests for information should be as specific as possible.

There is a minimum fee of $10 U.S., via check or money order, payable to ACADEMY FOUNDATION N.F.I.S. Credit card payment is not accepted.

The $10 fee covers a minimal amount of staff time and several pages of photocopies. The fee is for the search and does not guarantee that an answer to the query will be found. Additional service can be provided for a search fee which starts at $30 an hour. The copy charge is $1 per page.

The National Film Information Service can also provide duplicates of many stills in the library’s collection. Please contact N.F.I.S. for information.
