Special Collections
More than a thousand collections document the product and activities of companies and organizations as well as the careers of producers, directors, writers, actors, cinematographers, art directors, costume designers, composers, makeup artists, animators, columnists, publicists, executives and others who have made a significant contribution to the industry. Collected material includes production files, scripts, correspondence, clippings, contracts, manuscripts, notes, scrapbooks, costume and production design drawings, storyboards, sheet music, music scores and recorded sound. The George Stevens papers include scripts, production materials and correspondence related to the work of this Academy Award winning filmmaker who directed comedies, musicals and wartime documentaries, as well as acclaimed dramas like “A Place in the Sun” and “Giant.”
Access to Collections
The library’s Special Collections holdings are available by appointment to writers, students, scholars, filmmakers and other qualified researchers. There are records for each collection in the library catalog, and a database inventory to the collections is available online.
