National Film Information Service
The fee-based National Film Information Service of the Margaret Herrick Library can answer queries from patrons outside of a 150-mile radius from the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study.
Requests for information must be in writing and should be as specific as possible. Requests can be accepted by e-mail, fax or letter. The National Film Information Service also conducts photograph research and can provide duplicates of many photographs in the library’s collection.
There is a minimum fee of $10 U.S., via check or money order, payable to “Archival Foundation.” Overseas patrons are asked to contact NFIS about payment options. All work undertaken by NFIS requires payment in advance.
The $10 fee covers a minimal amount of staff time and several pages of photocopying. The fee is for the search and does not guarantee that an answer to the query will be found. Additional service can be provided for a research fee which starts at $30 an hour. The photocopy charge is $1 per page. The charge for photographic reproductions starts at $45 for an 8 x 10 black and white print.
The Margaret Herrick Library’s telephone or e-mail reference services may be an option for some patrons. Please see Reference Assistance for more information.
