“Snap out of it!” – Loretta Castorini To be “moonstruck” is to be romantically sentimental, lost in fantasy or reverie, or happily immersed in a story about an Italian-American family in Brooklyn that succumbs to the mysterious sway of the moon. Directed by Oscar® nominee Norman Jewison from John Patrick Shanley’s Academy Award®-winning screenplay, Moonstruck was an audience favorite when it premiered in December 1987 and remains a romantic comedy touchstone today. The film features Oscar winners Cher and Olympia Dukakis among a stellar cast that includes Nicolas Cage, Vincent Gardenia and Danny Aiello. This 20th anniversary screening will be from the original print submitted for the 60th Academy Awards®. Olympia Dukakis will join host Robert Osborne for an onstage discussion immediately following the screening. Patrick Palmer & Norman Jewison; Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. 1987. 35mm. 104 minutes.
