Katharine Hepburn lived an extraordinary life by any measure, and with
her passing last year the world lost a pioneering actress whose 12 Academy
Award nominations and four Oscar wins hold a proud place in the record
books. This retrospective celebrates her remarkable life and career, and
the recent gift by her estate of her personal papers to the Academy. This
treasure trove of photographs, correspondence, scrapbooks and other items
will allow film scholars unprecedented access to the life and word of one
of the 20th century’s most charismatic
figures. And this companion film series will allow film lovers to experience
the on-screen glories of ‘Kate the Great.’
