The Oscars Celebrate Movie Heroes

A new Grand Lobby Gallery Exhibition

This year’s Oscar telecast theme will be a celebration of movie heroes past and present, and the bold filmmakers who bring them to life. In the weeks leading up to the show, an exhibition in the Academy Grand Lobby Gallery features photos and posters from 80 films spanning nine decades, along with montages of film excerpts from classic and contemporary movies representing a wide range of big-screen heroes. The exhibition includes films centered on real-life heroes (“Milk,” “Silkwood”), superheroes (“Superman,” “The Dark Knight”), animated heroes (“Shrek,” “The Incredibles”), action heroes (“Enter the Dragon,” “Gladiator”), literary heroes (“The Grapes of Wrath,” “To Kill a Mockingbird”) and more.
