Inside Man - A Spike Lee Joints Retrospective

Introduced by Russell Gewirtz.

This twisty heist thriller in the vein of '70s classics like The Taking of Pelham One Two Three and Dog Day Afternoon is Lee's most commercially successful film to date.

INSIDE MAN, 2006.

Denzel Washington, working with Lee for the fourth time, plays a New York hostage negotiator brought in to mediate a tense situation when a mysterious criminal and his masked team take the customers and staff of a Manhattan bank hostage. Production designer Wynn Thomas, a frequent Lee collaborator, created highly authentic sets that allowed Lee to take full advantage of first-time screenwriter Russell Gewirtz’s witty script in a stylish production that keeps the audience guessing at every turn.

2006, 128 minutes, color, 35mm | Written by Russell Gewirtz; directed by Spike Lee; with Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer, Willem Dafoe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Carlos Andres Gomez.
