As part of the Academy’s International Outreach, the Academy partnered with local film organizations to showcase a selection of short, documentary and feature films directed by Cuban women.
This was the first time that a group of Cuban women filmmakers traveled to the United States to screen their work in Los Angeles, New York and Miami. The distinguished filmmakers invited to participate were Marina Ochoa, Milena Almira, Gloria Rolando and Claudia Rojas Morales.
The showcases was complemented by a series of workshops that offered opportunities for American and Cuban women in the entertainment industry to forge creative and cultural bonds; foster the expansion of dialogue between nations; and create new spaces to share social, historic and artistic female perspectives.
