Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Symposium
MODERATED BY FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM CHAIR MARK JOHNSON
Each year the Academy’s Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Symposium brings together some of the world’s top filmmakers to address such wide-ranging topics as art, politics and the challenges of their profession.
On Saturday, February 21, one day before the 81st Academy Awards, directors of the motion pictures nominated in the Foreign Language Film category appeared onstage to discuss their work. This two-hour event, which always draws an international standing-room-only crowd, also featured a brief clip from each of the nominated films.
The 2008 Foreign Language Film award nominees are:
“The Baader Meinhof Complex” (Germany)
“The Class” (France)
“Departures” (Japan)
“Revanche” (Austria)
“Waltz with Bashir” (Israel)
