Global Glimpses
THE 2008 OSCAR®-NOMINATED FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILMS
In cooperation with the National Geographic All Roads Film Project, the Academy presented the rare opportunity to see – in one location, in the days leading up to the 81st Academy Awards ceremony – the five Oscar-nominated films in the Foreign Language Film category.
Past nominees in the category have included such critically acclaimed favorites as “All about My Mother,” 2004 winner “The Sea Inside,” “Pan’s Labyrinth,” 2006 winner “The Lives of Others,” and last year’s winner, “The Counterfeiters.”
The 2008 Foreign Language Film award nominees are:
“The Baader Meinhof Complex” (Germany)
“The Class” (France)
“Departures” (Japan)
“Revanche” (Austria)
“Waltz with Bashir” (Israel)
Each screening included an informal reception where global-minded enthusiasts could meet, mingle, whet their appetite for foreign films and pick their favorites for the 81st Academy Awards.
