2009 Fellows Announced
Six writers have been selected as winners of the 24th annual Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. Each writer or writing team will receive a prestigious $30,000 prize, the first installment of which will be distributed at a gala dinner in Beverly Hills on November 12. This year’s winners are Matt Ackley (“Victoria Falls”), Vineet Dewan and Angus Fletcher (“Sand Dogs”), John Griffin (“Dream Before Waking”), Nidhi Anna Verghese (“Jallianwala Bagh”), and Jeff Williams (“Pure”).
Meet the Class of 2008
Six screenwriters were welcomed into the Nicholl Fellowship community at a Beverly Hills gala on November 13, 2008. The five winning screenplays (four by individuals, one by a two-person writing team) were selected from 5,224 submissions.
Notable Nicholl Fellows
The Nicholl Fellowship has been awarded to 115 screenwriters, many of whom have achieved considerable success. 2003 Fellow James Mottern (above, right, pictured with John Gay) directed “Trucker” from his Nicholl entry script. The film premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.
