The Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) is a free and open system for managing color, file interchange and archiving.  It was developed by the industry for the industry under the auspices of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

As an open system, the code is freely available (on GitHub) and the productions that have used ACES are being tracked by user-updated information services (IMDb and ShotOnWhat.com).

In keeping with this community-driven spirit, we’d like to share stories about how ACES is being used in production.  If you used ACES on a recent motion picture, television or commercial, please send us a brief description of how your used ACES and how it helped you production or post-production.  We will select several of the most compelling stories for inclusion in upcoming ACES Newsletters and perhaps even a wider publicity campaign!

We appreciate your support of ACES…now tell the world about it!

Thanks,

ACES Adoption Team
