Job Summary
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invites applications from individuals who have a career interest in writing, particularly in fields of public relations and/or marketing, who possess excellent interpersonal and administrative skills and who are organized, detail-oriented multi-taskers for the position of Writer.
Reports to: Managing Director, Communications
Responsibilities include:
- Writing projects including, but not limited to, press releases, press kits, media alerts, executive speeches, letters, talking points and feature articles for Academy website, quarterly and year-end reports and other marketing materials as needed relating to Academy initiatives, event programming and the Academy Awards.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in English, Journalism or Communications preferred.
- Minimum 5 years related experience.
- Strong knowledge of writing and grammar is critical.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to review and edit work of peers or staff.
- Ability to manage edits and input from various sources diplomatically.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work under deadline.
- Strong sense of initiative and willingness to take ownership of projects both small and large in scale.
