Chief Information Officer

Job Summary:

This individual serves as the senior executive for The Academy’s information systems and technology services, providing leadership, vision, and oversight for strategic planning, operations, integration, and implementation of information systems and technology services throughout the organization.  The CIO collaborates across the Academy to translate corporate business and information objectives into strategic and tactical plans and provides leadership in ensuring cost-effective design, development, integration, and implementation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set the strategic direction for IT in the Company by developing an IT Blueprint and multi-year roadmap of strategic IT goals and projects, as part of the Company’s business strategy
  • Envision the role of IT in the positioning of the business, and how IT can best be used to achieve business goals; translate this vision into strategies, goals, and plans for the IT teams
  • Identify and coordinate/synchronize (across various department and Academy-wide) key business needs, strategies, drivers, and articulate IT goals, guidelines or principles necessary to address those needs
  • Direct the establishment and maintenance of Enterprise Architecture as framework for business engineering, IT strategy development and organizational change
  • Manage IT risks, as well as the potential impact of risks on the business, and ensure business continuity and risk management from a system and business intelligence perspective
  • Identify, assess and recommend new technology information capabilities to enable business objectives and models
  • Evaluate technology trends and developments for business opportunities and risks, and introduce strategies to capitalize on these opportunities and to mitigate risks
  • Guide the priorities and performance of the IT and Data Management teams
  • Ensure that IT possesses relevant competencies, among both internal employees and external vendors, for the business’s current and future technology needs
  • Manage and direct the overall projects portfolio, ensuring a balanced portfolio of projects
  • Manage budget and resources so that IT delivers on its commitments and continuously looks at ways to be more cost effective and improve efficiencies and service levels
  • Regularly provide accurate and relevant information related to IT projects portfolio to management
  • Ensure the full spectrum of policies and practices within the sphere of IT comply with relevant legal and statutory requirements and meet principles of sound governance

Requirements:

  • Degree in business administration, engineering, computer science or related field, preferably to Masters level
  • 10+ years experience in IT management
  • 5+ years experience at dealing with Executive level personnel
  • 5+ years experience with data management and business intelligence
  • Experience in a similar sized organization preferred
