The 78th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, CA on Sunday, March 5, 2006.

Hollywood & Highland® celebrated its fifth anniversary as the center of the cinema universe on March 5, 2006, when the Kodak Theatre was again the site of the annual Academy Awards® presentation.

Hosted for the first time by comedian Jon Stewart, whose humor spared no one, not even himself, the telecast returned viewers to the "Glamour of Old Hollywood," complete with a set reminiscent of the grand movie houses of the '30s and '40s.

Top performance honors went to actors in four different films, and in an Academy Awards first, an Asian filmmaker took home the Directing Oscar®—Ang Lee for Brokeback Mountain. The evening culminated in a Best Picture win for the ensemble urban drama Crash.
