Academy Award host Chris Rock and Adam Sandler present the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay during the 77th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre.

The Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland was once again the site of the Academy Awards, this time the 77th edition, and once again managed a sunny, warm Southern California afternoon, even on February 27, for the three-thousand-plus attendees, the fifteen hundred press and the thousand plus staff of the event.

The long red carpet was filled with glamour, but also with excitement and an electric buzz of anticipation that charged the audience to give first-time host Chris Rock a standing ovation before he said a word.

With the ratings of preceding award shows dropping by double digit percentages that started with the numerals two and three, the Oscars held it's own with a rating that nearly matched last year and some 42.1 million viewers.

No picture ran away with the event, which scattered its largess among the nominees.  "Million Dollar Baby" was named Best Picture and its director, Clint Eastwood, took the statuette for Achievement in Directing.

The 77th Academy Awards were presented on Sunday, February 27, 2005, and was telecast live from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland by the ABC Television Network.
