Governors Ball Décor

With a regal palette of blue, gold, ivory and patina, this year’s Governors Ball will reflect the opulence of a modern palace. A center dome and wall mirrors will enlarge the space to create a luxurious yet comfortable feeling. The room will showcase printed rendering photos from films either nominated and/or won for an Academy Award.

• Ceiling - We will build a large center dome in the raised section of the ceiling. In addition to embellishing the three existing chandeliers in the center, there will also be 36 supplemental chandeliers throughout the room creating an ambient glow. Trompe l’oeil details will be painted around all chandeliers. The entire room has a 10’ curve creating a dome facade.

• Walls - Large 8’x16’ mirrors draped from floor to ceiling will flank the walls to enlarge the space. In between mirrors and columns will lie the printed photos acting as art pieces for the palace. The entire east curved wall will be a painted veranda in sepia, ivory and patina tones.

• Wall Photos - The wall photos will be printed renderings from the following films:
  The Time, The Place And The Girl, Swingtime, Gone with the Wind, The Sea Hawk, Daddy Long Legs, To Kill A Mockingbird and Gaily, Gaily.

• Layout - The layout consists of a combination of rectangular and round tables with the stage in the center. Again, the layout will have wide aisles for comfort and movement.

• Tablecloth - The tablecloths will be a rich blue with gold chivari chairs and gold chair backs, and gold napkins. There are three different floral centerpieces. The first is a long, rectangular centerpiece in all shades of blue, purple and periwinkle. The second is a large gold candelabra placed on the round tables with gold roses. Alternating with the long centerpieces, the rectangular tables will have small crystal candelabras of gold roses alongside two smaller arrangements.

• Flooring - The entire ballroom will be covered with carpet with a painted dance floor and stage treatment in the center.

• Menu - Guests will enjoy the fine cuisine of Wolfgang Puck.

• Exterior - The exterior will have a rich and comfortable feeling using a center fountain, rose ball topiaries and stone benches. All bars will be backed by 3-dimensional floral art and placed on the exteriors of the ballroom allowing more interior space.

The Governors Ball will be held following the 76th Annual Academy Awards® on Sunday, February 29. The Awards will be televised live on ABC starting at 5 p.m. PST, with a half-hour arrival segment.
