Speech
De Lestrade: Merci. Je vous aime. We just saw on the clip
one of the greatest men in America. And he said in 1963, the year
I was born, "I have a dream that my four children will one
day live in one nation where they will not be judged by the color
of their skin but by the content of their character." Thirty-eight
years later we film, with Denis Poncet, a story about a teenager
who had been stopped, arrested and sent to jail because he was just
a black kid walking in the street near a crime scene. And if we
are doing documentaries, that [is] because we do believe that as
storyteller[s] we can help dreams come true.
Poncet: Just one thing because I know that time is up. This
film was supposed to stay in Europe and thanks to somebody called
Christine Le Goff it came to the United States. It is thanks to
wonderful people at HBO like Sheila Nevins and Nancy Abraham [that]
this was possible for you to see, I hope, one day and very close,
soon on HBO. Thank you very very much.
Additional Thanks
De Lestrade: Jeff Bewkes (HBO); Chris Albrecht (HBO); Brenton Butler
and his family; Patrick McGuinness; Ann Finnell.
