Foreign Language Film Symposium

The directors of the five films nominated for Best Foreign Language Film posed for photographers Mar 23, 2001 at the Academy. They are from left, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Ang Lee, Agnes Jaoui, Jan Hrebejk, and Dominique Deruddere.

The Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Symposium is held every year just prior to the Academy Awards Show. The symposium is open to the public.

The directors of the current year's nominated foreign language films are invited to attend and speak in an open forum. Film clips, a panel discussion with nominees and a question and answer session with the audience are all part of the day's activites.

The 2000 Foreign Language Film Symposium included all five directors of the nominated foreign language films; Dominique Deruddere (Everybody Famous!), Jan Hrebejk (Divided We Fall), Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu (Amores Perros), Agnès Jaoui (The Taste of Others) and Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).
